去る11月2去る11月20日、3名の子ども達がマレーシアでの短期英語留学を行いました。今回は保護者の方にも同行していただき、日中の現地語学学校でのレッスンを終えた後はご家族で過ごしていただくファミリーステイのスタイルです。ステイ先はモントキアラ、非常に治安が良く、日本からの移住者も多い地域です。到着後数日はマレーシアを知っていただくため近くのショッピングモールや動物園、キッザニアなどに出かけました。マレーシアでは英語は公用語です。子ども達はモールでお手洗いの場所を尋ねたり買い物をする時に言葉を交わしたりと日常的に英語でやりとりをする機会がたくさんありました。語学学校では現地の先生がフォニックスやリーディングだけでなく教室の外に飛び出してカフェや本屋さんでの買い物にも挑戦しました。普段の担任の先生とは違うレッスンを楽しんで受けることができたようですよ。（パート２へ続く）

On November 20th, three children participated in a short-term English study program in Malaysia. This time, parents accompanied them, and after daytime lessons at a local language school, the children spent time with their host families in a family stay arrangement. They stayed at Mont Kiara, an area known for its excellent safety and large Japanese expatriate community. For the first few days after arrival, they explored nearby shopping malls, the zoo, and KidZania to get acquainted with Malaysia. English is an official language in Malaysia and the children had many opportunities for daily English interaction, such as asking for restroom locations at the mall or conversing while shopping. At the language school, local teachers not only taught phonics and reading but also took them outside the classroom to challenge them with shopping at cafes and bookstores. It seems they enjoyed these lessons, different from their usual classroom teacher’s approach. (Continued in Part 2)
