Hello, everyone!　キンダー学年では、Show and Tellという時間があります。日本の幼児施設ではあまりなじみのない活動ですが、英語圏の幼稚園や小学校などでは定番の活動なんですよ。スクールでは毎月決められたテーマに沿ったものを自宅から持ってきて、クラスメイトに見せながら(show)発表をしています(tell)。Show and Tellの目的は立場によって変わりますが、発表者にとっては英語でプレゼンテーションをすることで表現力や自信をつけることがメインです。一方聞き手側も発表内容をしっかり聞き取り、主旨に沿った質問やコメントを返す練習をすることができます。
みんなが順番を待ち望んでいるShow and Tellは子ども達の英語発信力を高める非常によい活動となっています。

In kinder classes, there is a time called Show and Tell, which isn’t very common in Japanese childcare schools, it’s a standard activity in kindergartens and elementary schools in English-speaking countries. At school, children bring in items from home each month based on a set theme and present them to their classmates (show) while explaining (tell). The purpose of Show and Tell varies depending on the perspective. For the presenter, the main goal is to build expressive skills and confidence by giving a presentation in English. On the other hand, the listeners also practice listening carefully to the presentation and responding with questions or comments that align with the main points.
Show and Tell, which everyone eagerly awaits their turn for, is an excellent activity for enhancing children’s English communication skills.
