Sweet potato and salad spinach

We harvested sweet potatoes with the children recently.
The sweet potatoes were planted around summer and grew well in the large pots at our school. In autumn, everyone enjoyed digging in the soil and harvesting them together.
After letting them rest for a while, they were finally ready to eat!
We also harvested salad komatsuna that the K1 class had planted.
The children were very excited, saying things like, “It’s grown so big!” and “I planted this!”
The harvested sweet potatoes and komatsuna were added to miso soup, and everyone enjoyed eating it together.
Through this experience of growing, harvesting, and eating, the children were able to appreciate the seasons and the blessings of nature during a warm and meaningful time.
