Hello, everyone!当園では年長クラスになると英英辞書の使い方について紹介を始めます。4月に初めて辞書を手にした頃はどうやって知らない言葉を調べるのか全く分からなかった子ども達も毎月少しずつ練習を重ね、今ではターゲットの言葉を見つけるのが早くなりました。

半年後には卒園し、英語で知らないことがあってもその質問に応えてくれる先生がそばにいなくなってしまっても、今の間に知りたいことを自分で知る術を身につけることで知的好奇心を萎ませることなく学びを続けてほしい、その思いから取り入れた活動です。

At our school, we introduce K3 childre how to use English-English dictionaries. When they first held a dictionary in April, they had no idea how to look up unfamiliar words. But they have been using the dictionary every month, they’ve become much quicker at finding target words.

This activity stems from our hope that even after graduating in six months, when there’s no teacher nearby to answer their questions in English, they will continue learning without their intellectual curiosity fading. We believe that by acquiring the skills to find answers themselves now, they can keep seeking knowledge.
